Healthy, thriving children and families are key to Jeffco’s success, today and into the future. The Jeffco Bright Futures Roadmap reflects a shared community vision to best support the county’s children (prenatal through age 8) and their families.
The Roadmap was developed between January and December of 2019 by a diverse group of Jeffco leaders and stakeholders, including parent representatives and leaders in education, health, business, and local government. The Roadmap promotes collaboration and coordination across physical health and well-being, early learning and development, and parent support and education to ensure all children can reach their full potential in school and in life.
What was especially unique about this project, according to Steering Committee participants, was the cross-community, comprehensive nature of it. It wasn’t just about what Jeffco Schools can do or what the County can do, or what our health care system can do. We worked together across public and private sectors, health, education and family support domains, and engaged with leaders, community members, and parents to inform and shape this process.
The Steering Committee spent a lot of time learning about what it looks like to raise a family in Jeffco today–what the opportunities and challenges are—as well as what programs and resources we have in place today that we can learn from and build upon. The good news is that we have a strong foundation in place.
The Jeffco Bright Futures Roadmap is available online. Spanish translations of each document will be coming soon!
