Home visitation programs for families in Jeffco
All families benefit from additional support during pregnancy, after the birth of a child and during the early childhood years.
Support from our family, friends and the community helps parents foster strong relationships and support the healthy development of our children.
A child’s early experiences and relationships set the foundation for development and learning, leading to success in school and later in life.
Home visiting is a service that meets your family “where you are” by providing education, guidance and support at a location of your choosing, often in your home.
There are many different kinds of home visiting programs. Some focus on health or safety, others focus on school readiness or child development. Sometimes there is a curriculum, while other programs are tailored to meet your specific needs and goals.
Participating in home visitation programs is completely voluntary.
Home visitors meet with families to:
- Enhance parenting knowledge and skills
- Provide personal support
- Connect families with community resources
A home visitor brings activities for you to do with your child that will promote bonding and healthy development.
Home visitors can be professional nurses, educators, or social workers. Home visitors may also be other parents who are specifically trained to support families in preparing young children for success in school and in life.
“When we first met, I wasn’t sure how this program could help us. Now, I couldn’t imagine navigating the system without someone to help make the connections with services easier.”
